Taneco, owned by Russian 5th biggest oil company Tatneft, is upgrading infrastructure to add 6 cSt Group III base oil to its portfolio – a very popular grade that is mostly used in motor oils for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. Taneco refinery is going to start producing this product in 1-2 years. Denis Varaksin, managing director of Legion Oil & Gas LLC, says that 6 cSt grade will be sold “like hot cakes”:
“The market has awaited addition of a 6 cSt grade to Tatneft’s portfolio, and that grade is in high demand from both domestic engine lubricant marketers and the export markets,” – Varaksin says.
