Polyalphaolefins (PAO)

Polyalphaolefin (PAO)

Polyalphaolefin (PAO) oil is a synthetic oil that is produced by alpha-olefin monomers. It is characterized by its high purity, pour-point characteristics, superior low-temperature performance and excellent thermal and oxidative stability, making it ideal for lubricant and industrial applications.

Range of application

Polyalphaolefins have variety of applications including aviation lubricants, compressor lubes, drilling fluids. Also it is used in automotive applications such as engine oils, transmission fluids, and gear oils. It is also used in industrial applications such as hydraulic fluids, compressor oils, and turbine oils.

PAO oil can be transported using various methods, including tank trucks, railcars, and iso containers. Our sales department can provide detailed consultation on the transportation of polyalphaolefin, based on the quantity and distance of the shipment.

Advantages of PAO Oils
  1. High Viscosity Index (approx.130) (VI): PAO oils exhibit a high VI, which means they maintain their viscosity over a wide temperature range.
  2. Low Pour Point: Polyolefin-based oils have a low pour point, allowing them to remain fluid at low temperatures. Since Polyalphaolefins do not contain waxes that easily build up crystalline textures, they have better cold flow properties, which allows the pour point to be kept exceptionally low.
  3. High Oxidation Stability: PAO oils have high resistance to oxidation, which minimizes the formation of deposits.
  4. Less volatile than mineral oil (higher flash point, less flammable, lower hydrocarbon emissions)

We offer a range of unhydrogenated dimer products, C10 Dimer and C12 Dimer.

Our C 10 PAOs product line includes PAO 2, PAO 4, PAO 6, PAO 8, and PAO 10 based on 1-decene alpha olefins.

The C 12 line consists of PAO 2.5, PAO 5, PAO 6 HVI, PAO 7, PAO 8 HVI, and PAO 9 based on 1-dodecene alpha olefins.

The mPAO range provides metallocene-based super high viscosity mPAO 40 and mPAO 100.

Legion Oil & Gas LLC distributes polyalphaolefins to numerous locations worldwide, including Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Canada, Europe and other global destinations.

Possible suppliers could be ExxonMobil, Chevron Phillips Chemical, INEOS, Chemtura, Idemitsu Kosan, Shenyang HCPAO, Dowpol, Naco.
